Shay’s Rainbow Connection

Horseback Riding Instructor
Walsh St, Madden, AB, Canada

Hello, my name is Katrina Duncan however, please call me Kate. I’m an Insured riding instructor through CapriCMW Insurance Services Ltd. here in Canada.

I have 29 years of riding experience and have owned horses for 28 years. Horses are my life, so it would be my greatest pleasure to assist you and your equine friend(s) to have the relationship you dream of.

If you’re interested in Dressage as well as learning In Hand work with your horse(s), I may be the instructor you’re looking for. However, I’m very willing to work with Western riders as well because this work I do helps no matter whether you’re a Western or English rider. I’m willing to work with horses of all disciplines, breeds and ages as well as riders of all ages and disciplines.

My personal interests lie in equine and rider biomechanics as well as the use of intuition, science and compassion when working with horse and rider. The kind of students I wish to work with are those who are searching for a more intimate and long term relationship with their equine partner(s). This work helps one to connect to their heart and it’s my wish to help horse and human to see that a lifetime partnership is deeply rewarding and worthwhile.

– I’m VERY willing to work with horses that are having unresolved lameness issues as I may possibly be able to assist in helping you to restore your equine friend to serviceable soundness.

– I’m willing to work with young horses In Hand who are not yet ready to be ridden. The In Hand work is great to help improve confidence, balance control, coordination and over all connection with a young horse.

– I’m willing to work with elderly horses who are bored and uninspired that still want purpose in their life. These older horses often love In Hand work because it’s a great form of exercise that doesn’t require them to physically carry a rider.

I mostly work with students who have their own horse(s), so I will need to be welcome to teach at their own property or facility that they keep their horse(s) at unless we choose to do video analysis lessons. Video Analysis lessons are a great way to continue to improve with your horse while being able to easily “social distance” during this difficult time that COVID-19 has created.

For the right candidate(s) I may be willing to teach them Dressage as well as In Hand work with my own personal mare Stella. If you’re interested in working with Stella and I please reach out for more details about what would be required and to see if you two would be compatible together.

My lessons in person are $65 per hour. Travel charges DO APPLY if you are 15 minutes or longer drive (one way) from my home. Please contact me for details on travel charges.

My video analysis lessons are also $65 per lesson. Each lesson requires a video of no more than 10 to 15 minutes be submitted to me for review. Please contact me for more details on what video analysis lessons entail.

I’m willing to travel to teach Clinics within Canada. I usually need 5 to 8 participants to make a clinic viable. A clinic can be scheduled to learn In Hand work, Dressage or other ridden work. Please contact me for details and to discuss pricing.

I’m located near the hamlet of Madden, Alberta – approximately 25 km west of the town of Crossfield, Alberta.

If you have questions please feel free to reach out to me via phone, email or through my Facebook business page “Shay’s Rainbow Connection”. I look forward to assisting you and your equine partners! 💗🐴🙏🏻🌈😀
